Ingredients

sweet onions

tablespoons
clarified butter

can sauerkraut
850g
1/4
cup
honey
1
bay leaf
4
juniper berries
3
cloves

teaspoon
ground cinnamon
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Peel and chop the onions into fine pieces.
Heat the clarified butter in a large skillet.
Add the onion pieces and stir until they become golden brown.
Drain the sauerkraut well and add to the pan. Stir to combine completely with the onions.
Add the honey and stir to coat.
Add the bay leaf, juniper berries, and cloves to the pan and stir to combine completely.
Sprinkle the ground cinnamon over the top and mix.
Season with salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.
Remove the pan from the heat. Fish out the bay leaf, cloves, and juniper berries and serve.
If you are not serving the kraut immediately, leave the spices in until just before serving.
