Cherry Chili Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 lb fresh cherries pitted
  • 2 Serrano chilis or your choice of chili variety de-stemmed, de-seeded cut into tiny pieces.

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.

  2. Turn the heat down to low and simmer for 10 minutes.

  3. Remove the pan from the heat, let the mixture stand overnight.

  4. Strain the liquid into a second saucepan and cook for 5 minutes until it starts to simmer.

  5. Remove from heat and transfer to a sterilized bottle or jar.
