Halloween Cayenne Coffin Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2/3 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1-2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chopped into very small pieces
  • Halloween sugar decorations (bones, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease your coffin pan or line a 9X12 inch pan with baking paper and grease the sides.
  3. Whisk together flour, salt, baking powder, dark cocoa powder, and cayenne pepper and set aside.
  4. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy (3 minutes).
  5. Add eggs one at a time until combined.
  6. Beat in vanilla extract.
  7. Add the dry ingredients and beat until combined.
  8. Mix in the chopped chocolate.
  9. Pour into the pan.
  10. Bake about 25-30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the brownie comes out clean. If you are baking in a regular pan, bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Cool completely before decorating.
