Chestnut Streusel Crusted Filet Steak

Ingredients

  • 4 steak filets
  • kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped Chestnuts vacuum packed
  • 3/4 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Season filet steaks with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, place the chestnuts, breadcrumbs, thyme, and butter.
  4. Use your hands or a wooden spoon to mix everything together until thoroughly combined.
  5. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Set aside.
  6. Heat the oil in a large skillet. Sear the filet steaks on both sides and transfer to the baking sheets.

  7. Evenly distribute the chestnut streusel on top of each filet steak.

  8. Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes depending on rare or well-done meat preference.
  9. Remove from oven, transfer to plates or a serving platter.
  10. Let meat rest for 5 minutes before serving.
