Spicy Creamy Harissa Sauerkraut

Ingredients

  • 1 14.5 oz can sauerkraut
  • 1 medium-sized sweet onion
  • 1 tablespoon clarified butter or ghee
  • Salt Pepper & sugar to taste
  • 2 tablespoons harissa paste
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Drain the sauerkraut well. Finely dice the onion.

  2. Heat the clarified butter in a skillet.

  3. Add the onion. Cook until transparent.

  4. Stir in the sauerkraut.

  5. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar to taste.

  6. Stir in harissa and cook a few minutes more.

  7. Stir in broth and cream.

  8. Lower the heat. Simmer for 15 minutes.

  9. Season again with with salt, pepper and sugar to taste.

  10. Remove from heat and serve.
