Cheese Fondue Sirloin Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 medium-sized baguette
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb sliced or cubed sirloin
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1+3/4 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded Emmenthaler
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere
  • 1 cup chopped Camembert (without rind)
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Grease an 8" x 10" casserole dish.

  3. Slice the baguettes and line the dish with the baguette pieces. Set aside.

  4. Heat the olive oil in a skillet.

  5. Sear the sirloin on all sides. Remove from heat.

  6. Add the butter to the skillet. When the butter is bubbling, quickly Stir in the flour, thickening the mixture.

  7. Add the wine and the milk to the pan and bring to a boil.

  8. Stir in 3/4 cup each of the Emmanthaler and gruyere, then the camembert.

  9. Season with white pepper and ground nutmeg.

  10. When the cheese has melted. Remove from heat and pour over the bread in the prepared pan.

  11. Add the sliced sirloin, distributing it over the cheese and bread.

  12. Scatter the remaining shredded cheese over the top.

  13. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.

  14. Remove from oven, and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
