Lots of birthdays this week, lots of baking. These were for some work colleagues. We had three birthdays this week in a row on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I am surrounded by Aries as my husband is one as well.
I used the Magnolia Bakery vanilla cupcake and buttercream recipes and just added a tablespoon of chili powder to the cupcake batter.
They were finished off by sprinkling chili flakes over the frosting. The chili flavor gave these a pleasant little kick which was enjoyed by all birthday boys.
Have a great weekend everyone!

wow I have my own favorite recipe for white cake cupcakes (it tastes like fluffy sugar cookies & is just so perfect) but throw some chili powder in there!? oh my! I will have to keep this in mind & make it for some occasion.
At first I thought that these were flakes of petals! Lovely simple but exciting flavours! Like Joanne, I've never seen chilli and vanilla before, only chilli with chocolate.
Great new place for chili! I'm surrounded by Aries as well. Father, mother, husband, son, stepson, stepmother and 4 cousins… It's a conspiracy – no escaping them!!! Happy Birthday to Aries everywhere!
I've seen chili and chocolate a lot but never chili and vanilla! Interesting twist!
My boyfriend puts chilli sauce on everything, pretty sure he'd love these. Such a great idea I'll be sure to try these soon.
I love spicy with anything, and that's such a fun idea to sprinkle chili flakes on the cupcakes!
Love it, Lora. Fiery hot chili for fiery hot Aries' passionate tempers. I say that because I'm one myself. You must be such a patient wife with an Aries husband. Colleagues too? My hat goes off to you!
Holy Moly! I was surprised to read that a whole tablespoon of chili power went into these but I guess it wasn't too much if everyone loved them. Quite a unique recipe indeed. Happy Birthday to your husband 🙂
What an unique cupcake recipe! Love the chilli flake garnish atop too.
