These are not so perfect and even though I prefer the version that was in my head originally, I sorta love their wonkiness. There is no doubt a better way to execute this idea but I used what was on hand. Baking my way through the pantry has become a priority because of our upcoming move to NYC.
To make these firecracker cake pops I used Bakerella’s method molding leftover cake scraps and frosting from my last post’s creations into cylinder shapes. I wish I had a mold on hand to make them more uniform.
I would have liked to make the pop color white but there is no access to candy melts here. White chocolate comes out off white so I colored some white chocolate yellow, added some shortening to thin the chocolate and dipped them.
While waiting for the chocolate coating to dry, I rolled out some blue and red fondant and cut it into strips. When the cake pops were fry I wound the fondant strips around the pops.
Some of them got little “hats” and others a fuse made out of black fondant. I finished them off by applying gold disco dust with a bit of vodka.

These are the cutest cake pops! I think I need to declare it National Fireworks day so that i have an excuse to make them!
These are adorable! Your creativity never ceases to amaze me! Happy 4th!
AW! That's so lovely, my kids will love this.
These are so unique! I've done cake pops once. I don't have the patience for them really as I find them time-consuming so I really admire the work that went into making these fun firecrackers!
How cute! Happy July 4th!
