Recently the Upper Delaware GLBT, of which I am a board member, hosted a fundraising brunch to bring the local community together with a very talented local psychic.
Unfortunately, I had overbooked my baking commitments and spent the entire weekend in the kitchen. One of my commitments was agreeing to bake some scones, cookies, and muffins to donate to the brunch which was sold out and a huge success. I wasn’t able to attend the brunch so I did the drop-off and ran back to my mixer and oven.
Along with the platters of other goodies, I made these decorated sugar cookies and decided to post them because I was really pleased with the result and they were so dang easy to make.
The guest of honor was a psychic and not an astrologer so I loosely interpreted the brunch theme with hearts, moons and stars and surprised myself with what one can do with limited time, leftovers of royal icing and cookie dough.
To make these make your favorite rollout cookie and royal icing recipes. Cut out shapes and bake. When cookies have cooled completely, outline and flood the cookies with royal icing. Sprinkle with sparkle sugar and wait 24 hours before packing or serving.

Can you please tell me specifically what sparkle sugar or glitter you used on the moon and star
cookies! I’ve been asked to make Moon and Star cookies for a bridal shower.
Thank you!

Hi Debi: I do not know the brand. However, the crystals for the gold and silver version were larger than normal, called “course sugar”. https://www.nycake.com/sanding-coarse-sugar The red was the regular small crystal version, probably by Wilton.
