Blueberry Hand Pies

King Arthur Flour's July Bakealong Recipe

by Lora Wiley-Lennartz
What says summer better than blueberry pie? What could be cuter than these blueberry hand pies? So many questions so early in this post.

I’ve got the answers, people. I’m raising my hand right now for these hand pies.

King Arthur Flour has knocked it out of the park again with July’s Bakalong recipe.

You can vent the pies with any shape you like. good old fashioned slits are fine. I loved the star shape the KAF peeps used so I did the same. Heart or flower shapes would also look cute. You could even alternate shapes for each.

Having the correct size (3.5 inch) square cutter on hand made the process easier and faster. If you don’t have one, cut the shape out of a piece of cardboard and use it as a stencil.

The crust of these Blueberry Hand Pies contains sour cream. The filling is a cinch to pull together.  White sparkle sugar gives these babies a little bling that goes a long way. That’s pretty much all you need to know.

Oh, and they are delicious. The crust is flaky with a not-too-sweet blueberry filling. Actually, weekend guests squirreled them away for themselves, so the only downside is that the recipe only makes 8 pies.

Cry me a river.
