Tangy Kumquat Martinis

I am pregaming summer with these refreshing Tangy Kumquat Vodka Martinis. Because it’s a perfect cocktail for a warm spring or summer day.

Kumquats

I love creating fun-flavored vodka martinis. The inspiration for these Tangy Kumquat Vodka Martinis came from a recent trip to Paris, France. While there, I attended the Salon International de l’Agriculture with friends. Among the culinary treasures I picked up were candied kumquats. Consequently, my immediate thought was to use them as a cocktail garnish. So, of course, I had to create a kumquat cocktail around this garnish idea. Undeniably, this is my new favorite cocktail for at least the next month or so.

Candied kumquats garnish on a Kumquat Vodka MartiniTo make these Tangy Kumquat Vodka Martinis, you will need fresh kumquats. These are small, tangy citrus fruits resembling miniature oranges. You can usually find them in the produce section of your local grocery store or at a farmers’ market.

Kumquat syrup

Create a kumquat pulp by blitzing a handful in your blender or food processor. Then, boil this pulp with equal parts sugar and water. This creates a lovely kumquat syrup for this Kumquat Vodka Martini.

Each Kumquat Vodka Martini includes a shot and a half of well-chilled vodka, one and a half tablespoons of kumquat syrup, and a splash of Triple Sec. Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker, along with a handful of ice. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, then transfer the mixture into a chilled martini glass.

I do not expect everyone to have candied kumquats at hand. Alternately, garnish your Kumquat Martini with a thin slice of kumquat and enjoy!

Additionally, not only is this a delicious and refreshing cocktail, but also a great source of vitamin C and antioxidants! Kumquat Vodka Martinis are a must-try cocktail for any fan of citrus drinks or vodka cocktails.  Cheers!
