Blogger participants in Rock the Red Pump Day are asked to turn our blogs red for the day. As a result, I’d like to introduce you to the Hibiscus Sloe Gin Fizz.
Drinking Slow Gin Fizz cocktails at dance clubs was a rite of passage growing up in Long Island, NY. It was my drink of choice when I turned what was then the legal drinking age of 18. Because that was a long time ago, it is finally time to reinvent the SGF with this Hibiscus Sloe Gin Fizz.

On to the Cocktail:
I can’t get enough of the Wild Hibiscus Flower Company’s products. As a result, my flavor twist on this classic cocktail uses their high concentration hibiscus flower extract, made from fresh cold-pressed hibiscus flowers, dried hibiscus, and cane sugar.
Admittedly, the cocktail is not looking very fizzy in the pictures. Mostly because I took so long to take the photographs. Regardless, I love how the hibiscus extract tones down the overall super sweet taste of the slow gin. The extract and lemon juice take the cough medicine edge off the taste of the liquor. Lastly,  I used fake slow gin. Fancy mixologist purists will have to get over it.
