So tonight people in many places of the world are toasting to romance. I’ll be making these at my house. And drinking them by myself. Not because I’m spending Valentine’s Day alone. My huband does not really drink. when he does, he sticks to beer and wine. when he really cuts loose, its a gin and tonic or an occasional Mai Tai when on vacation. Consequently, these Valentine’s Rose Martinis are best for a single girl’s Valentine’s celebration. Unless your fella is a Girl Drink Drunk, this cocktail probably is not for him. But make one for yourself. you deserve it.

This cocktail a vodka-based martini. I added rose flavored syrup and a splash of rosewater. Im addition to dried edible rosebuds, I also have a bottle of Monin Rose Syrup hanging out in my bar. I’m an ingredient wierdo. Don’t judge. However, making your own rose syrup is simple if you have the time. Simple is the operative word. Just add edible fresh rose petals to a simply syrup recie. This is cooking equal parts sugar and water until the sugar dissolves. Strain and let cool. That’s it.
Rose Sugar for an Extra Pretty Touch
For an extra decorative touch, embellish the glass rims of these Valentine’s Rose Martinis with pretty and fragrant rose sugar. Make the rose sugar the day of. However, make sure you store it in a tightly sealed plastic container for future use. Use it in your tea, the hot or iced version. Also, you can add it to decorate cookies or other baked goods.
For another beautiful garnish idea for this cocktail, use fresh (non-sprayed) rose petals.
Whether you are single or paired, enjoy your Valentine’s celebration!
