When someone gifts me a coffin-shaped cutting board, there is only one thing to do. Whip out my stash of black sesame seeds and create a Dracula Spicy Cheese Dip. Who would gift someone a coffin-shaped cutting board, you say? Well, it’s a well-known fact in my circle of friends what a Halloween freak I am. I could not have been more delighted.
Jump to RecipeI did have a Halloween party this past Saturday. For my guests, I created several dips. from the old school magic of French onion soup mix and sour cream to garlic black bean hummus. There was also a severed hand that was a mix of herby goat cheese and cream cheese.
For the cheese dip flavor, I went for VERY spicy. The dip itself is a mix of cream cheese and goat cheese. Additionally, I added cayenne and chili pepper powders as well as a healthy dose of Tabasco sauce. However, using the blank flavor slate of the cream and goat cheese mix, feel free to add your favorite herbs and spices.
Mix everything up and then use your hands to shape a head and shoulders. I put this in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Then, the mixture is covered with a layer of sour cream and then the decoration is added.
Decorating Dracula:
Here’s how to decorate this Dracula Spicy Cheese Dip. Using the aforementioned stash of black sesame seeds, I used them to out like Dracula’s hair and cape. I also used them for the eyebrows. However, it’s probably easier to cut slivers of black olive for this. Make sure you slant them upwards. It makes Dracula look more sinister. Also, store-bought candy eyes work well. however, I make my own out of leftover royal icing.
Red pepper is used for the mouth and the collar. Blanched almond silvers work well for the fangs. I cut onions for ears and olives for the buttons. However, use whatever you have on hand to creatively articulate your own personal Dracula.
