I’m all about the Halloween party. It’s my favorite holiday. Thanksgiving runs a close second. I spend hours planning menus for both holidays. However, I have a passion for cute and gross Halloween-themed foods. Furthermore, I always make at least four Halloween-themed specialty cocktails. Usually vodka-based martinis. That’s where this Black Magic Berry Bootini comes in. It’s almost too simple to create. Over the years, I’ve learned to not only balance the menu when it comes to types of foods but to balance it in easy and difficult items to prepare. Nothing is worse than still slaving in the kitchen when guests arrive.
Jump to RecipeThis year, at my Hauntini Happy Hour, Candy Corn, Pumpkin Caramel, and, additionally, these cool black drinks will grace the bar. This cocktail features berry-flavored vodka. I used Eristoff Black, a vodka that originates from the country of Georgia. Known as “The Land of the Wolf”, consequently, it makes this drink very Halloween appropriate. Maybe I should have named it a Wolftini?
Anyway, I love this brand for its extra dark color. You can mix this with anything and it still stays jet black. It is also extremely flavorful. So you do not have to get complicated with your mixology. For this Black Magic Berry Bootini, add a bit of simple syrup, a dash of lemon juice and you’re done. Additionally, if you want to be extra fancy, you can coat the rims with sugar glitter. I used black. However, purple or a mix of black white or orange and black would also be cool.
Make your own simple syrup:
Simple Syrup lives up to its name and It works perfectly in this Black Magic Berry Bootini. Furthermore, Simply Syrup is extremely easy to make at home. Place equal amounts of white granulated sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Then, when the sugar dissolves, turn the heat off and let it cool. Transfer to a bottle and leave it in your fridge. I always have one in mine. It comes in handy for a lot of things, especially doctoring cocktails. If a drink is too strong, just add a bit of simple syrup. It takes the edge off.
This Saturday, you will find me behind my outdoor bar wearing my Great White Shark costume serving up my specialty martinis. I can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend.
