Three ingredients are all it takes to create these Strawberry Puff Pastry Hearts. They take a few minutes to throw together. However, be aware there is a chill time of 40 minutes. If you are looking for an easy Valentine’s Day treat, these are your ticket. I love to make Valentine’s Day food items. I’ve created everything from cookies to truffles to appetizers to soup for Valentine’s Day. I find it fun and creative.
Additionally, the bake time on these Strawberry Puff Pastry Hearts is only 15 minutes. The result is flakey sweet treats that melt in your mouth.
To create these, roll out a puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Then, brush with jam. I used strawberry flavor. If you want to keep to a Valentine’s day theme, use a red-colored jelly or jam. Strawberry, cherry, or raspberry flavors are perfect.
Once you have coated the puff pastry sheet with jam, roll it up from the long side. Then, pinch the opposite side from the seam into a point. Wrap in plastic cling film and chill for 40 minutes. Afterward, this is basically just a slice-and-bake situation, like cookies. Pinch the bottoms to reinforce the heart shapes. However, they will round out when baked. I think they still look cute though.
Tips for making Strawberry Puff Pastry Hearts
- Before placing the puff pastry hearts on the baking sheet, make sure you wipe off any access jam that may be on the bottom side. This will prevent the bottoms from burning.
- Make sure the jam or jelly you are using is smooth with no lumps. The strawberry jam I used has pieces of strawberries in it. If this is the case, do what I did and quickly blitz the jam in a food processor to smooth it out.
