When I saw this fondue pot, it was love at first sight. Forget the fact I’m already a fondue freak. First of all, I only need a whiff of a reason to bust out the fondue pots and cook up a cheese, beef and chocolate fondue feast. Secondly, I’m a glitter girl. So the beautiful red shimmer finish on this Rachael Ray fondue cast iron pot makes my heart go pitter-patter. Consequently, this glittering vessel should only contain a worthy luscious fondue recipe. Chocolate Cherry Valentine’s Fondue is the perfect love match for this pot.

Rachael Ray 1.5qt Cast Iron Fondue Set, Red Shimmer ($39.99) classic tableside set with six fondue forks provides superior heat retention to keep melted sweet or savory ingredients at their ideal temperature and texture. Additionally, the enamel surface (inside and out) makes for effortless cleaning after indulging.
Not just for Valentine’s Day, this fondue set is occasion versatile. Additionally, it is a stunner on any holiday dessert table. Party perfect for Christmas or New Year’s Eve celebrations. Also, how about red, white and blue dipping items for a July fourth bash?
Furthermore, the recipe is a time saver. This Chocolate Cherry Valentine’s Fondue comes together in 20 minutes. Containing cherry extract and kirsch (cherry brandy), this fondue contains a mix of bittersweet and milk chocolates. However, the recipe makes it easy to get creative with substitutions.
Make it your way:
To change up the flavor, use any single or combination of chocolate you like. Go darker or lighter. The flavor possibilities are endless. I like to think of the liqueur flavor first, then I match the extract to the flavor of the alcohol. Hazelnut with Frangelico, almond with Amaretto or orange with Triple Sec. Go on and give it the full ginge with Domaine de Canton or Intense Ginger. Mint flavor with peppermint Schnapps would bring the zing.
For dipping into this Chocolate Cherry Valentine’s Fondue, use your imagination or use up whatever you have in your freezer or pantry. Sponge cake cubes, bananas, pineapple, marshmallows, soft pretzel pieces.
Incidentally, I searched the stores high and low for heart-shaped marshmallows with no luck. Which is saying a lot since I live in New York City. So I whipped up a batch which reminded me how easy they are to make.
I used cutters to create hearts, X and O shapes. Alternately, if, like me, you have your heart set on Valentine’s themed marshmallows to serve with chocolate fondue, you don’t have to make them. Rather, buy the jumbo ones in the supermarket and slice them in half. Then use valentine’s cutters to create shapes or cut out the letters of your lover’s name. Another idea is to create letters for a special message, a proposal perhaps? Cute, right?
TIP: Save all the marshmallow scraps from the cutouts. Then chop them up and throw them in your hot cocoa. You’re welcome.
